U+2660 Black Spade Suit

U+2660 was added in Unicode version 1.1 in 1993. It belongs to the block U+2600 to U+26FF Miscellaneous Symbols in the U+0000 to U+FFFF Basic Multilingual Plane.

This character is a Other Symbol and is commonly used, that is, in no specific script.

The glyph is not a composition. Its width in East Asian texts is determined by its context. It can be displayed wide or narrow. In bidirectional text it acts as Other Neutral. When changing direction it is not mirrored. If its East Asian Width is “narrow”, U+2660 forms a word with similar characters, which prevents a line break inside it. Otherwise it allows line breaks around it, except in some numeric contexts.

The CLDR project calls this character “pik” for use in screen reading software. It assigns these additional labels, e.g. for search in emoji pickers: gra, karta, talia.

This character is designated as an emoji. It will be rendered as monochrome character on conforming platforms. To enable colorful emoji display, you can combine it with Glyph for U+FE0F Variation Selector-16: ♠️ See the Emojipedia for more details on this character’s emoji properties.

Wikipedia ma następujące informacje na temat tej współrzędnej kodowej:

Spades () (French: Pique) is one of the four playing card suits in the standard French-suited playing cards. It has the same shape as the leaf symbol in German-suited playing cards but its appearance is more akin to that of an upside down black heart with a stalk at its base. It symbolises the pike or halberd, two medieval weapons, but is actually an adaptation of the German suit symbol of Leaves created when French suits were invented around 1480.

In bridge, spades rank as the highest suit. In skat and similar games, it is the second-highest suit.
